Question: I just came off an antiobiotic (Ammox/Clav) 500 mg 3 times a day last Monday for a UTI. I tested negative last Wednesday for a UTI and still have pressure so I took an at home AZO test strips and my nitrite was negative but my Leukocytes was high. Does that mean I have another UTI? Please help.

Brief Answer:
It can be partially treated UTi

Detailed Answer:
Hi! Welcome to health care magic!

Based on the history you have shared, it can be due to partially treated urinary tract infection. It is quite possible that the causative organism being more than one. If any single one had responded to amoxicillin/ clavulanic acid combination, the other might not have. It can also be a recurrence altogether. More appropriate approach would be to have a urine culture test before starting the antibiotic and chose antibiotics based on sensitivity spectrum of the organism. Also bear this in mind that home based tests may not be reliable and a detailed laboratory test is needed for determining recurrence or increase in pre existing infection. Meanwhile, drink alot of fluids and water and use citrosoda sachets for burning after discussing with your GP.

Hoping you a speedy recovery. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. Regards.
