Suggest Remedy For Persistent Nasal Congestion And Runny Nose

Posted on Tue, 17 Nov 2015
Question: With 10 mg of loratine my runny nose continues all day. With 20 mg taken at once it stops completely. However, I seemed to become jumpy and nervous. I am hoping it was some other cause. Is that side affect I had common with 20 mg taken at once?

Brief Answer:
could be the drug

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

20mg is overdosage. Although it's not a very high dose, it's higher than the recommended maximum daily dose. This means that you get more side effects than benefit. The normal dose is 10mg per day (once daily).

Taking more may result in increased heart rate, dry mouth, sleepiness, headache, impaired psychomotor skills, nausea, etc. Nervousness might be the result of its anticholinergic effect. Taking more than the recommended dose is obviously a risk factor for side effects.

Kind Regards!
