Question: Since 7 days I am suffering from high fever. I met the doctor with 103 fever, and he immediately gave me 100ml pct I've. The fever dropped to normal in 2 hrs. He did a cbc and all are ok except platelet count at 1.89 lake which is still normal. He concluded it as a viral fever. He then put me on dolowin forte (1-0-1) , Dolo650(sos). The next day morning the the fever again shot up and it was around 103 again. He then added orni-o (1-0-1). My problem is the temperature is normal as long as the effect of the medicine is there , which is about 8 hrs. After that the fever again shoots up. I take medicines as prescribed after food. When medicine is not there in blood , the attack starts and the fever reaches peak and slows comes down and I am normal. Effectively the relief is only for about 16 hours. The gap time fever is making me stay at home. I am yet to complete the full 5 day course as advised. It is not a dengue fever. I am 41 years male diabetic

Brief Answer:
Could be malaria

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for the query

The fact that you have high grade fever which is not subsiding with paracetamol and antibiotics could mean that you might be suffering from malaria or anther bacterial infection not sensitive to the antibiotics you are on. Here is how you should go about it

1. get another cbc done and along with that I suggest you to send malaria, typhoid, blood culture and urine routine as well
2. do not travel until you get this sorted
3. avoid milk, milk products. Keep your food bland and oil free
4. take ample rest. do not take more than three dolo in a day.
5. cold packs on the fore head and axilla will help reduce temperature

I hope I was of help, if you have any further queries please get back to me

Regards
