Suggest Remedy For Pain In Calf Area After A Fall

default
Posted on Wed, 20 Aug 2014
Question: Last Wednesday I fell when I was heading up a small set of 4 stairs. I landed hard on the side of my left leg. My toes were jammed in the corner of the next step below me and were forced down hard into the corner. I could hardly move then for about 12 hours but I can move them now without any pain. The calf of my leg hit both the top and second step down very hard all the way down the side of my leg. I also cracked the corner of my knee on the top step. I also hit my left side and shoulder on the floor but that pain and stiffness hardly hurts at all now. There was some bruising on my lower left leg but not as much as I expected. I have been icing my calf and resting my leg, along with propping it up. I am still having throbbing pain on the left side of my calf area and can not put much pressure on it - walking is difficult.

Brief Answer:
I would suggest you to get x ray

Detailed Answer:
Hello madam,
I have read your case and I would suggest you to get x ray of the leg, because as you have fallen on your leg there is chances that you may have hair line fracture in fibula. It is small bone in the leg.
X ray will help us to rule out any other injury also. You are doing good by applying ice and rest. I would also suggest you to apply compression bandage and voletran ointment. If pain is severe then you can take Diclofeac sodium tablet after discussing with your doctor. Do not walk on affected side.
If pain is very severe and swelling increasing then you might need a plaster splint at leg.
I hope this answer will be useful for you. Let me know if you want to ask any other question.
Thanks.
