Question: I have a 9 year old with a fever and red around a scratched mosquito bite, he has been having lots of water and honey, and tea tree ointment on the bite, if there anything else I can do?

Hi
Thanks for writing to us
If there is fever associated with scratched mmosquito bite it could indicate local infection.
I usually prescribe FUSIDIC acid ointment for such lesions.
This can be applied twice daily for 5 days.
Ensure he drinks plenty of lliquids to keep him hydrated.
Acetaminophen or paracetamol can be given for fever.
If fever doesn't settle down consult your pediatrician.
