He is again hospitalised because of short breath. Doctors say it was a minor heart attack & there was water in chest
He is doing fine now but i want to know the cause & also wanna know if the medication is correct & what are the do's & don'ts

Brief Answer:
Features are suggestive of heart failure.

Detailed Answer:
Hi & Welcome.

I appreciate your concern for your father.

Glad to know that he recovered following a cardiac arrest (CPR).

From the symptoms described in your query I am of the opinion that he had myocardial infarction ("heart attack") following which he developed heart failure resulting in the fluid ("water") in his lungs (chest).

Pleased to know that he is responding to the treatment of heart failure.

Dry cough could be due to two possibilities:

1. Due to heart failure itself (as it is associated with shortness of breath) or
2. Due to prescribed medication for the heart failure like ACE inhibitors RAMIPRIL.

I would advise you to kindly consult his treating doctor for the symptom of dry cough suspected to have been caused by the medication ACE inhibitor RAMIPRIL

Echocardiography does not show the blockage of the blood vessels of the heart.
So, to get more information regarding the blockade he has to undergo Angiography.

He must take the following precautions:

1. Must adhere to the prescribed medications
2. Avoid exercise as it may aggravate his symptoms
3. Dietary salt restriction
4. Must avoid straining during defecation
5. Avoid fatty or heavy meals.
6. Regular follow up with the cardiologist.

Hope I could answer your query.
