Suggest Remedy For Diarrhea And Vomiting In A Child
Question: My 17 month baby is having loose motion n vomiting since last two days we went to pediartician n medicine continue still her potty color is green n today one vomiting n three potty till now

I understand your concerns but don't worry. The most likely reason for your daughter's illness is a self limiting viral gastroenteritis which causes such symptoms. You may take the following measures for early recovery:
- Keep her well hydrated by regular feeds and oral rehydration therapy such as soups, lemonade, buttermilk, ORS.
- Antacids will help in associated gastritis which may lead to vomiting in kids. So, give Syp. Digene or Junior lanzol dispersable tablet.
- Syp. Domperidone or ondansetrone can be used for recurrent vomiting episodes.
- Start a zinc supplement (ZnD or Zinconia) once vomiting resolves. Give 20 mg elemental zinc once daily for next 14 days. This will help in early recovery and further immunity against similar episodes in next few months.

Right now largyl-n syp 5ml thrice,nutrolin-B 5ml twice n darolac Z satchet is going but she is nt taking oral foods n crying since morning so plz suggest

I would recommend you to stop largyl N because most of these illnesses are viral in origin which improve without any antibiotics. Also, largyl N leads to altered taste ( metallic) and gastritis which leads to vomiting and poor appetite.

I presume that she is admitted for poor intake with diarrhoea leading to dehydration. We usually recommend replacement fluids (especially normal saline or ringer lactate) along with antibiotics (if bacterial infection suspected).
Most likely reason for swelling can be over replacement. But it needs a proper and complete evaluation. I would strongly recommend you to have a repeat clinical evaluation by good pediatrician asap. Laboratory tests like CBC, CRP, RBS, Electrolytes (Na, K, Ca), Liver and renal function test, Urine and stool examination and ultrasound abdomen can be of benefit. Conditions like renal or liver dysfunction, hemolytic uremic syndrome, diabetes and overt sepsis needs to be ruled out.
