Suggest Remedy For Bed Sores

default
Posted on Fri, 4 Dec 2015
Question: HI I have a severly disabled daughter who is 29 and wears a diaper. She in all the years has not had a bed sore or diaper rash to speak of. But 2 days ago she got a rash on her upper left buttock about the size of a half dollar and last nite it seemed to get the little bumps all over it. we originally treated it with the ointment to keep bed sores away and last nite starting using cortisone cream and benedryl thinking it could be itchy but she can't tell me so I don't know. after looking at your site I see candida type rashes, ringworm and heat rash that look similar. I have a photo i can send. Can I buy an antibiotic ointment?

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query and photograph.
It is looking like a bacterial infection.
I would like to know whether the bumps are water filled or pus filled or are they just hard bumps ?
Photograph is not very clear hence I need to know details to rule out other possibilities.
Waiting for your response.
Thank you

they seem like they were filled with pus but I didn't see any break open
I went and got lotrimin cream and mixing with cortizone cream. It appears bit better. a lot less bumps this morning. IT just looked so bad I didn't want it spreading and since she can't speak i was wondering if it was really itchy. I gave her benedryl at nite to help sleep but can't keep it dry really with a diaper at nite.

Brief Answer:
Use antibacterial and antifungal

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the follow up.
There can be a mixed bacterial and fungal infection.
Lotrimin cream is an antifungal agent.
It will help her.
Better avoid cortizone cream, it is a steroid and can harm.
Apply Lotrimin in morning and an antibiotic cream like mupirocine in night.
This should help her.
Let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thank you.
