Brief Answer:
Urine culture and sensitivity

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for the query.
I understand your concern.
Diabetic people are more prone for infections because of decreased immunity.
The possible steps that can help your wife are:
-Strict control of blood sugar levels.
-Investigations like urine microscopy, urine for culture and sensitivity can help in finding the possible cause of the problem, causative agent and its sensitivity to drugs. Then treatment can be planned accordingly.
-Taking plenty of oral fluids, around 3 to 4 liters per day.
-Avoiding prolonged retention of urine, passing urine in every 2 to 3 hours.
-Ruling out female genital tract infections which can lead to urinary tract infection.
-If problem persists, better to go for ultrasound to rule out internal causes like cystitis, pyelonephritis etc.
Take care.
