Hello and welcome

Your concern is apprecaited

Its incisional hernia that you are having which develops after abdominal surgeries.
The risk factors are obesity
Old age, steroid use, infection and hematoma formation after surgery, chronic lung conditions and chronic constipation etc basically occurs due to weak abdominal wall.
Decesion wether to operate upon it ir not is difficult the general rule is that hernia should be repaired but in old age and hernia which are not symptomatic and not very large can be delayed for surgery because the risk for anesthesia in old people is great in it self. But if hernia is strangulated it there is possiblity for that then it is operated upon
Non surgical options are wearing a corset or belt but its outdated now.
Exercises that can strengthen your weak abdominal muscles may help.
Laproscopic surgeries are now been done that has very low hospital stay and post op recovery is quick and subsequeny hernia chances are less.
To prevent recurrance or occurance of oncisional hernia mesh is used to repair the defect which has very low rates of incisional hernia occurance

please consult your doctor before taking any further course of action

Wishing you best of health

Hope it helps
