Brief Answer:
Need clarification regarding your cough.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM.

From the facts you have shared here, your cough is likely because of upper respiratory infection like bronchitis.

Also, from your sleep disturbing coughing, I assume that you are having dry, irritating cough since 15 days.

However, asthalin and ventorlin cough syrup is given in wet or productive cough and they have no role in dry cough. So please clarify me regarding that whether you have dry or wet cough (cough with sputum).

Since you are taking Telma 40 mg which may also cause cough,so it also needs to be ruled out.

Kindly get back to me with clarification and if possible share your CBC report.

I will guide you accordingly after that.

Awaiting your response.

Regards,

Dr.Sandip Kabra

Brief Answer:
Symptomatic treatment will be helpful.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for the immediate reply.

Your blood counts reports seems to be fine except slightly raised lymphocytes counts which is indicative of some viral infection.

However, you have not clarified about your cough but I assume that it is mostly dry cough.

For that,I would suggest you to take combination drugs like antihistamines (cetrizine or levocetrizine) with mast cell stabilizers (montelukast) to get relief from this night disturbing coughing.

The brand name of the above combination is Tab.Montair-Lc or Levocet-M which is to be taken twice daily. You can purchase it from some nearby pharmacy.

Along with this,

Steam inhalation with warm salt water gargles would be helpful.

Nebulisation with duolin or asthalin would be helpful to prevent further inflammation in respiratory tract.

Avoid cold water or any other cold products.

Hope this helps and let me know if you need more help.

Regards,

Dr.Sandip Kabra

Thank you so much for your reply sir. Actually I forgot to mention that i used Montek LC also but of not much use. So far as dry/wet, it may be dry only with small amount of mucus in white colour only. But anyway i will try Montair also. thank you.

Brief Answer:
Both are same.

Detailed Answer:
Hello Dear XXXXXXX

Thanks for the reply.

Here, I would like to tell you that both Montel-Lc and Montair-Lc are the same combination drugs. So there is no need to purchase an another.

However,You can increase the frequency of this drug means you can take this tablet twice daily along with other symptomatic treatment as I mentioned above.

You can also try Monti-Fx or Montemax-FX (which is a combination of montelukast and fexofenadine) which will also be helpful if montek-Lc has not worked well.

All these cumulative effects would certainly be helpful from the relief of cough.

Also there is nothing to worry about small white mucus. It is unlikely indicative of any kind of infection.

Hope this helps.
