Question: Something weird going on with my right eye. started an hour ago. When I turn my head back and forth in the light, I see a dark XXXXXXX that shoots across. When Im in the dark or close my right eye. I see the same XXXXXXX but it's like a spark of light. I read about possible ocular migraine and thought about Ranexa pills I have for lowering blood pressure. I didn't take it.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I read your query carefully and understood your concern.

Normally, the eye movements are adopting to head movement through vestibular-ocular reflex.

In case of retina detachment or even glaucoma, there are changes in eye vision (e.g. XXXXXXX in your case).

As you have a personal history of high blood pressure (taking Ranexa pills for that); this increases chances for retinal detachment or other problems. That's why I recommend to check with an ophthalmologist further. Meanwhile, should monitor your blood pressure and record the results for future reference.

If you can't get an appointment as soon as possible, I advise to go to ER if :
- the changes in eye vision will persist or worsen
- other symptoms will appear: headache/eye pain, pinky eye, etc.

For the moment, I advise to keep the neck area covered with a warm cloth and have more rest. Avoid sudden movements/turning of your head.

All the best.
