Suggest Remedies For Elevated Liver Enzyme Levels

default
Posted on Tue, 14 Jun 2016
Question: Alt of 62 and Ast of 43. Everything else normal. I'm freaking out. 5 yrs ago has h-pylori infection with very high liver enzymes. Ultra sound showed slightly enlarged liver. Negative on all hepatitis. After a few months everything was back to normal. Had normal tests since except for last week. Have been taking 5mg of esciprilatam and Advil every now and then. Quit drinking 16 months ago and quit chewing tobacco 1 year. Liver enzymes a year ago were alt of 30 and Ast 37 I'm stressed that something is seriously wrong.

Hi and thank your for asking.
I read carefully all your concerns and I can say as follows :
1.Your AST and ALT level are mildly elevated. Since your viral test has been negative than the most probable cause of them are:
- fatty liver
- overweight
- drugs side effect like esciprilatam
2.You are reporting to have slightly e enlarged liver. It may be related with fatty liver and explain your elevated transaminases level.
3.You should repeat your AST and ALT level after 2-3 weeks.
Meantime I would suggest to :
- stop esciprilatam use
- avoid fatty foods
- increase physical activity and try to loose weight.
Hope it was helpful to you!

Definitely could be fatty liver ? I'm 5'10 191lbs but work out 3-4 times a week. I do typically eat well but hadn't the last week or so before the test. I also had a nasty cold the time blood work was done. I have stopped the esciprilatam. Just to clarify I had a slight enlarged liver in 2011 the only other time I had elevated enzymes along with the H-pylori. Other than 2011 my blood has been normal. Sorry just super stressed out that something is seriously wrong even stopped drinking 16 months ago. As you can tell I tend to always think the worse hense why I'm on anxiety Meds.

Hi back,
Thank you for clarifying more your medical data. Yes your transaminase level may be related with fatty liver.
There is no relation between H.pylori infection and elevated enzyme level.
Hope it was helpful to you.

Brief Answer:
There is nothing to do with cirrhosis

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Let me explain again:
Please don't worry, your finding are not suggestive for cirrhosis.
Abdominal ultrasound doesn't shows a structural damage of the liver neither enlarged portal vein.
Hope it was helpful to you.
