Suggest Medication To Replace Nitrogen For Treating Molluscum On The Pubic Area
Question: I have molluscum on my pubic area. They were treated with nitrogen but some new ones always seem to pop up. Is there a cream that can be used to treat molluscum in addition to the nitrogen treatment ?

I am Dr. Kakkar(dermatologist and venereologist).
It is quite normal for new lesions to pop up until all the existing molluscum lesions are treated as they would act as a source of new infection/ autoinoculation. However this usually subsides over time as all visible existing lesions are being treated.
Apart from treating with liquid nitrogen you may use topical imiquimod 5% cream, once daily, for your genital molluscum contagiosum. It is a topical immunmodulator and a prescription product. It can cause skin irritation, burning sensation and therefore should be used under supervision of a dermatologist. It is not to be used on raw skin hnce you may use it in between liquid nitrogen sessions or as an alternative to it but not simultaneously as liquid nitrogen treatment usually results in blistering and scab formation in the days following treatment during which while imiquimod should not be used.

One doctor suggested I use a solution of salicylic acid and lactic acid twice daily. A cream called cornex. Will this do the job as well?

No. please don't use it on pubic skin. It would definitely burn the delicate skin over there. This solution is meant for plantar warts and corns.
