Brief Answer:
Do not stop taking your tablet suddenly

Detailed Answer:
Hello mam,

Welcome to healthcaremagic.

I understand your concern.I read your condition and queries carefully.

Firstly I would like to tell you not to stop any medication suddenly without consulting your doctor. As you said you have been taking metoprolol for years, meaning you were diagnosed hypertensive long ago by your previous doctor. That time his motto was to regulate your blood pressure mostly because you were a newly diagnosed patient.

Now since its been long time you being a hypertensive patient and that your age also increased, chances of other diseases like heart attack and stroke increases. Metoprolol tartarate not only controls your blood pressure, it also protects you from chest pain and stroke.

If you are having any uneasiness due to this drug, consult your doctor about stopping this drug and this will be done gradually. So, do not suddenly stop taking metoprolol tartrate, it can worsen your condition.

Hope i was helpful. Feel free to ask more.Take care.
