Suggest Dosage Of Micardis Plus

Posted on Tue, 20 Oct 2015
Question: Hi my mum is on micardis plus 80/25. She got put up from 80/12.5 recently and the doctor put her up and found blood pressure went too low so put her down then out her back up again. She told her to see how she goes and adjust it. She woke up this morning with a blood pressure of 105/56. Is that too low? She doesn't feel anything particularly like dizziness or anything. Should she go back to micaddis 80/12.5? Usually she wakes up with low blood pressure then it picks up after lunch and she has now been taking the blood pressure medication at lunch instead of in the morning. This morning was particularly low. Is that something she should we worried about or is it ok if she just takes the 80/12.5 today instead and see how she goes with that?

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you for asking!
I read your query and understood your concerns.

First of all I would like to suggest to maintain the actual prescribed dose as long as your mother systolic blood pressure is above 100 mmHg (today it was 105 mmHg) and she didn't feel anything (no fatigue, dizziness or light headiness).

Otherwise (if the systolic BP is below 100 mmHg or she will experience dizziness) she should take the Micardis plus 80/12.5 mg.

Moreover I would like to recommend to take the treatment at lunch time. However, she should take the preparation before 2 p.m.

Hope this will be of help!
Wish you health!
