Question: Will my hair thinning reverse when I quite nicotine gum? I am an older woman so not sure if hair thinning is due to the gum or my age.

from the detail provided above, your hair fall could be due to androgenetic alopecia, age or nicotine use. Nicotine use or smoking can aggravate already existing hair loss.

pattern of hair fall and thinning- diffuse, patchy
sites involved- frontal temporal crown
if the hair fall is acute or gradual
any episode of illness, surgery, stress
