Semen Analysis Done. What Does The Value Signify?

default
Posted on Fri, 24 Aug 2012
Question: My Semen analysis report:
Abstinance: 3 days
Liquifaction: 30 mins
Quantity: 2.0 C.C
Colour: White
Viscocity: Viscid
Odour: Seminal
Reaction: Alkaline

Total Sperm Count: 45 million/ml
MOTILITY
Active Motile: 40%
Sluggish Motile: 20%
Non Motile: 40%

MORPHOLOGY
Normal Forms: 80%
Abnormal Forms: 20%

Pus Cells: 02-03/hpf
Epithelial cells: 01-02/hpf

Please let me know if this is normal.
I am doubting the motility. Heard normal is above 50%, is it active+sluggish or active alone. Please clarify,
Forgot to add, my wife got pregnant twice 1.5 and 2.5 years back, but aborted intentionally
Thanks in advance

Hello

Thanks for the query

Your semen analysis is normal. There will not be any issues in fertilisation.
Even though your active motile sperm is at 40% the number of sperms per ejaculate is high so this compensates for the slightly less active motile sperms. You should also know that active sperms die if the sample is processed late or not sampled properly.

I hope I have answered your query, if there are any further ones please let me know I will be happy to help

I wish you all the best
