Hello,

Thanks for your query,

The way you have expressed your concern it looks like Seborrheic dermatitis.

Even though scalp and face are the common places it can affect any part of the trunk. Symptoms are scaly, flaky, itchy, and flushed skin.

The etiology is over production of sebum followed by infection and inflammation.

This may be due to a type of fungus. Other causative factors may be hormonal, immune system disorder or even genetic.

Treatment:
Ointments containing
1) Antifungal + Antibiotic
2) Anti inflammatory + Keratolytic
3) Topical Steroid if indicated
4) Oral or injection Antibiotic according to the severity of infection
5) Anti histaminic for itching

Are enough medically.

Proper hygiene of the body is very important.

You will recover soon with this treatment.

Wishing you a speedy recovery,
Dr. S. Jegadeesan
