Noticed A Cut In Between Anus And Scrounge. Wears Diapers. What Can Be Done?
Question: My 2 year old son just formed a perfectly straight cut between his anus and scrounge. It hurts him. What can I do to help it feel better and heal. He still wears diapers. This suddenly appeared?

Do not worry.
Avoid diapers for a few days till the wound heals. Keep the area as dry as possible. Keep it open to the air. If usage of diapers is unavoidable change it frequently. Do not continue to use a soiled diaper.
Try and dry the area when ever it is wet by dabbing with soft cloth. Do not rub the area. Moisture will further cause maceration of the skin.
Do not use excess soap in the area. Creams containing zinc oxide as prescribed by your doctor will be of use. Frequent application of this ointment is required. If there are features of infection in the form of redness of the area, swelling etc antibiotics may be prescribed by your doctor. Some times if there is a local fungal infection then antifungal creams may be prescribed.
