Question: I've had my period for two weeks. Went to the ER had my blood count tested, urine test done as well as an Ultrasound done. Everything came back fine, the doctor told me it might be hormonal I will be 36 this year don't know if this is just me getting older...I've never had an issue with my period but for the last 3 months it has been coming down at least a week later than its due. Just worried because I've never experienced this before. This is day 14 and its still pretty heavy as if I'm on my second or third day of my period. I don't know what to make of this.

Brief Answer:
Needs hormonal treatment to control the bleeding.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
The heavy bleeding that you are having with all the normal test reports is likely to be due to a hormonal disturbance or a dysfunctional uterine bleeding.
The management of this condition would require treatment with progesterone to stabilize the endometrium and reduce bleeding along with hemostatic agents like ethamsylate or tranexaemic acid . Oral contraceptive pills (OCPs) suppress endometrial development, reestablish predictable bleeding patterns, decrease menstrual flow, and lower the risk of iron deficiency anemia.

You might consult your OB-GYN who can initiate the proper therapy.
Meanwhile start taking iron supplements to combat excessive blood loss from your body.

Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.
