Brief Answer:
Very little risk of conception.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for posting your query.

Even with intercourse on the day of ovulation, emergency contraception soon after provides 95 -98 percent protection. Thus, you are amply protected and so, need not worry about conception.

Emergency pills cause hormone disturbances and since you have taken two in a row, you may expect some withdrawal bleeding and a delayed natural period. Please get help if you are overdue by ten days with your next natural period.

Hope your query has been answered. Please feel free to contact for further clarifications. I will be happy to help.

Brief Answer:
Can expect a delay of a week or two.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for writing back.

Withdrawal bleeding is the bleeding that is seen as a consequence of withdrawal effect of hormones on the uterine lining, the endometrium. When you have taken the pill, you provided your body with a high dose of progestin. After the effect of the hormone on the uterus has waned, bleeding ensues. Technically, this is similar to the normal menstrual bleeding, but the causative factor is different.

You can expect a delay of a week or two in your natural cycle after emergency pill intake. Pain is usually not there unless you have history of painful cycles.

I would always ask my patients to restrict the use of emergency pills to one or two occasions per year, spaced apart. Otherwise, the hormonal milieu of the body is going to be disrupted, sometimes permanently.

If you think you needed emergency medication so frequently, you should opt for regular form of contraception, to give you continued protection.

Hope your query has been answered. Please get back if you need more help. I will be glad to do so.

regards,
Shanti.V.

Brief Answer:
Could mean an impending period.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for writing again.

This sort of white discharge could mean an impending period. Since you did not have any withdrawal bleeding after the second pill, you may see your period within this week. If you are overdue by more than ten days, please get further evaluation.

Hope your query has been answered. Please contact if you need any more information. I will be glad to help. Take care.

Brief Answer:
Chances of pregnancy very very minimal.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for writing back.

Emergency pill offers around 95 percent protection if taken within six hours of the intercourse. This is decreased to 85 percent after 24 hours, yet, this is a decent enough protection.

Since you have taken two pills in a row, your chances of pregnancy are very very minimal. Yes, you are likely to have hormonal imbalance for a while.

Though, it is always good to be cautious and hence, you should go for hormone analysis and blood test for pregnancy, if you are overdue by ten days. Please remember that this is done as part of the protocol that needs to be followed in such instances.

If you do not receive a period and if pregnancy has been excluded, you may be prescribed hormones to induce a period.

Please go for regular contraception instead of the emergency pills.

Hope this helps. Wish you good health.

regards,
Shanti.V.
