Is Swollen Lymph Node In Neck A Symptom Of Cancer?

default
Posted on Wed, 13 Jul 2016
Question: I have a 0.5cm point sticking out from a neck lymph node. What could this be, besides cancer?

The lymph node itself was swollen but has since returned to a smaller size, but the protrusion remains. Waiting on blood work, but need some non cancer theory for peice of mind.

Brief Answer:
Cancer wouldn't regress so soon!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this swollen lymph node and all the inconveniences this must have caused you. I have reviewed this information fully and it is suggestive of a possible adenitis and not cancer. Cancer wouldn't regress in such a very short time. MA pretty sure you and an infection around the head and neck region that must have caused this reaction leading to inflamed glands. It cannot be cancer given the temporary nature and the rapid regression.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Keep me posted on your results and am sure there would be nothing to worry about.

I've also had instatible thirst for the last 2 days. No matter how much I drink it's not enough. I'm peeing all the time, almost hourly, and it's totally clear. I measured by blood glucose and it's normal, I'm not a diabetic.

Brief Answer:
I will simply want to monitor this only at this time!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for this added information.

I have reviewed this information and for now may want to monitor only. With the short duration and a normal blood glucose, this should be observed a little longer. For now, monitor your symptoms only and report progress to me. The increased thirst, water intake and frequent clear urine is all normal.

I wish you well.

Brief Answer:
Can you upload these results for review?

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for reporting this finding.

It is difficult to actually comment much on a single item. It is better to comment looking at all the different blood parameters. For this, I will suggest that you upload the entire report. Please, kindly upload it as an attached file.

To upload an image, click on the upload icon to the right of your dashboard and follow the onscreen instructions. You may also send it directly to customer service at YYYY@YYYY and request that it should be uploaded to your query.

I hope to hear from you and promise to respond promptly. Until next, I wish you well.
