default
Posted on Wed, 2 Sep 2015
Question: Dear Mam, i got married for last 1.5 years. i got pregnant in july last year but had to go for missed abortion as there was no heartbeat in october 2014. I do not get regular periods since starting and not even now. After abortion i took precaution for 5 months so that i could recover properly. after that I approached another Gynae in april 2015 and after consultation she told me that i have polycystic ovaries, high FSH (around 11) and do not ovulate properly. she gave me birthcontrol piills for 3 cycles during which i got regular periods. She checked my egg size was around 11mm. she has given me ovalife tablets twice a day. My last Menstruation was on 14 th XXXXXXX 2015 but till now i dint get my periods. i have checked 3 times but i am not pregnent. she gave me Meprate for 5 days at bedtime and told me to wait for 10-15 days for periods. I want to know when i was given birth control pills than why my periods are still not regular? and how much time i will have to wait for the pregnancy. she has told me to take Clofert on the 3rd day of my coming cycle. Is there any chance of failing my second pregnancy. Am i associated with the right Gynae?? please advice

Brief Answer:
Have you done your ultrasound scan and TSH level.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,
Thanks for trusting me about your health care.
I have gone through your history and feel sorry about your past loss.
I have gone through your reports and your hormone level is absolutely fine but yes your LH/ FSH ratio is more.
PCOD is very complicated endocrinal disorder and we cannot make diagnosis on the shear basis of LH and FSH level.
Have you done your ultrasound scan to see the cyst.
I would suggest you to get your thyroid profile and prolactin level.
Usually period get regular after 5-6 cycles of contraceptive pills.
You should wait for at least 6months-1 year to get pregnant.
First she will regulate your menses so your ovulation and than it is helpful to you to conceive fast.
Yes you are in right hand,do not worry much as you are on right treatment.
To conceive fast you do alternate days sex in your most fertile days, use ovulation predictions kit to see ovulation and try around ovulation, do not take any stress,do some yoga and meditation, consume a healthy and balanced diet( because lifestyle changes are helpful in conceived fast),take folic acid daily.
These measures are helpful in regulating your menses and ovulation which will further enhance your chances of pregnancy.
Hope found useful, feel free to discuss more information.
Good luck.
Regards

Dear Mam,

thanks for your answer, but you havn't replies on the egg size and my menstruation period for which i have taken Meprate for 5 days. Can you please extend my reply time so that i could get my ultrasound reports by tomorrow and discuss with you. Also can you please tell me what should be the appropriate and balanced diet for me so that i can execute the same. I think folic acid is already included in "Ovalife" tablet or else what can i do for the same.

Brief Answer:
Explained below.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,
You are most welcome.
Sorry I haven't commented on your follicle size.
Usually 18-22mm size is considered normal for rupture of follicle in your case it is 11 which is small size but you have not mentioned on which day of menstrual cycle it is 11 mm and what about other follicle size.
Your cycles are irregular and it can be due to anovulation or PCOD as your doctor said and in my opinion use of oral contraceptive pills and ovulation induction drugs are useful in your case.
Yes we will discuss your ultrasound scan report tomorrow.
Have you done your thyroid and prolactin level also?
Balanced diet means eat more protein and less carbohydrates and fats diet.
Eat lots of vegetables and fruits.
Eat almond and walnut and drink a lot of water.
Yes ovalife contain folic acid in it,so no need to take extra tablet.
Hope answered your questions, feel free to ask more questions.
Good luck.
Regards

Brief Answer:
Lifestyle changes are helpful.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,
I have seen your whole reports and study your history and the conclusion is that you are suffering from PCOD with irregular period and difficulty in conceiving.
But you should not take any stress, though the PCOD is not curable but with some lifestyles changes and drug treatment it can be under control and you will get pregnant in future.
As I have seen your doctor prescription and she gave you clofert which is the first line drug and best drug to treat PCOD.
You should continue it for at least 4-6 cycles and follow my advice which we have discussed.
If clofert is not effective than she will add metformin to treat your symptoms.
As your hormonal levels are fine there is no hormonal treatment required for hair growth.
You can treat it with shaving.
Hope found useful, please let me know if you have any other queries.
Hope to hear from you soon.
Good luck.
Regards
