Question: I am 93 days pregnannt (13th week ) . we have completed Till NT scan. All reports are normal till now. We have plans to go for umbilical stem cord cells. Is it worth to go? Is new born screening for baby also essential,Though we have been doing many scans during the pregnancy?
I have seen many advertisements which are really confusing us. Please suggest

Its scope as of now limited is only to certain genetic and metabolic diseases but the research in this field is growing at a very fast pace so much so that in coming few years it will be able to deal with diabetes, cholesterol disorders and hypertension like common diseases.
So it is worth to opt for cord stem cell preservation.
If all your antenatal tests are normal there is no need to opt for tests of the newborn.
They are only done in at risk babies where either the parents or family members are affected with metabolic diseases.
