Is It Safe To Give Iron Drops Despite Having Excessive Gas In Children?
Question: My baby is going to be 3 months old on 5th march.he is on breastfeed and 3 top feeds.(160ml)..except for gas which really irritates him
all other parameters are fine....his paed started his iron drops tonoferon...but im not
infavour of giving him these coz as it is he wriggles in pain due to gas ..now I dont want constipation
or hard stools to add onto this gas problem...my quest is ---is it mandatory togive him iron supplementation
or can skip it..please also sugest something for his gas pains coz he is not able to feed comfortably as whenevr the spasms comes he unlatches..this latching unlatching continues for atleast 10min...

Brief Answer:
can delay iron drops..
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for the query.
You can delay iron drops, try to start after a month.
Iron is necessary but if the baby is otherwise stable you can skip it.
Gas can be treated with digeplex drops which will also improve apettite and digestion.
Also colimex-Df drops can be tried for gas.
Hold baby upright for 20 to 25 mins after feeding so that gases may be expelled out.
Hope I helped you.
