Brief Answer:
Nasal fracture could have occurred

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I am sorry yo hear that your child had suffered a fall. But you should have immediately visited a doctor. A fall on the head could definitely break the nose of the child. Moreover it could also other structures like maxilla (bone below cheeks). It could also cause internal bleeding either in localised regions or in the brain. The black eye is due to localised collection of blood which is gradually getting metabolised and absorbed. Irrespective of fracture the swelling could stay for 10 days or so. I would strongly insist that you visit your doctor immediately.

Hope that helps.

Thank you. The right side of he's nose is bigger than the other . Do you think it may be because it's broken? What can be done to fix a baby's broken nose? Our pediatrician will be back in office on Saturday.

Brief Answer:
Wait to see what your pediatrician says

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back.

I think you can wait till Saturday. Most often the fractured nasal bones reunite on their own and not much needs to be done about it. But likelihood of disaligned union remains. The swelling could be due to soft tissue damage. Whether it is due to fracture needs to be assessed by your doctor and I do not wish you unnecessarily frighten you.

Brief Answer:
Swelling not much. Nasal bone fracture less likely

Detailed Answer:
I have seen the photograph this time. However the swelling does not seem to be much and seems more likely to be due to soft tissue damage. Nasal bone fracture seems less likely. In that case I think you can relax. It should subsidie gradually.

Hope that helps.
