Posted on Sat, 19 Sep 2015
Question: Hi, my son is almost 3 and just have a circumcision on Monday, his gauze was all soak yesterday so the nurse told me to take it off but he was crying and hurting so I took off half of the bandage. The nurse told me to do the rest today which I did, after the bandage remive, there is some light bleeding, is that normal due to me pulling out the bandage sticking there? I just changed his diaper and I saw a really little blood stain on the diaper, a tiny bit, I can't see whether there still bleeding on his wound or not cuz he not letting me. Is it normal to bleed a little when I removed the bandage?, and if there still light bleeding or more bleeding what should I do?

Brief Answer:
no need to worry

Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome.
This is absolutely normal to notice some blood on gauze after circumcision even up to 5-7 days after surgery. Circumcision isnt procedure where big blood vessels are cut so there is no fear of some significant bleeding, only small skin preputium capillaries may bleed and thi salways stops soon after surgery. You can bath his penis in slightly warm chammomile tea.Only if there is active bleeding after 5 days, you should see a doctor. Wish you good health. Regards
