Question: Hi,
Is it advisable to go for Laser-TURP operation?

Brief details of the problem:
My Father is facing problem in urination (Its blocking). So we went to a doctor last week and he has advised diagnostics tests like PSA : 1.68, Ultrasound : Impressions: Grade II Prostatomegaly (Enlarged Prostrate).

So he prescribed Tamdura tablet for one week (have to keep urine pipe because urine is blocked) and we had a revisit after a week but it did not improve.

He advised for Laser-Turp operation. My father had a bypass surgery (CABG) 1.5 years back. Is it ok to go for operation?

Brief Answer:
Laser Turp is widely used in Urology.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXX and welcome to HCM.
As an Urologist,i can understand your concern.

You have not sent all reports of your father.
They're mainly,blood routine,creatinine,RBS,INR,platelets,LFT and
cardiology check-up assessment.

He can be given a trial with other medicines, more effective than Tamsulosin.
Only if medical treatment isn't effective, surgical treatment need be considered.

If the surgeon is experienced in Laser Turp, it's a surgical mode of treatment.

Wishing your father good health.

Hi,
Thanks for your quick response.

I have uploaded USG, PSA, Uroflometry and Doctor File papers. Please have a look at them.

The reports you mentioned are not yet done (blood routine, creatinine,RBS,INR,platelets,LFT and
cardiology check-up assessment). We asked for some time to decide upon operation so Doctor told we will do cardiac assessment and other fitness tests once we are ready for Surgery.

Currently he prescribed Dutas tablet till we decide for operation. Please let me know does he still need surgery or can it be cured with other medicines?

Brief Answer:
Alternate treatments mentioned. Surgery if failure.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXX and welcome to HCM.

He can switch to a combination of Silodosin and Dutasteride,or Alfuzosin.
Both are very effective in treatment of retention of urine, due to prostate gland.

If this isn't effective,he'll need surgery.
Turp is performed in various ways.
Laser energy is one of them.

Get back with all the reports, for an expert opinion.
Wishing him good health.
