Posted on Sat, 26 Apr 2014
Question: I fell and fractured or bruised my ribs. My doctor gave me hydrocodone-acetaminoph for pain. Is this a statin drug? I cannot take statins due to joint pain. yesterday my hip started hurting and overnight it became intense. I used to get the same symptoms when my cardiologist prescribed statins for my cholestorol control.

Brief Answer: No, this is not statin. Detailed Answer: Hello! Thank you for the query. No, this is not a statin medicine. Hydrocodone/acethaminophen are both pain killers. In regular dosages are quite safe and should not cause hip pain. It should rather limit hip pain. So maybe your hip pain is caused by recent injury. Please consider it and if sounds possible, consult your doctor again. Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions. Regards.
