Is Cholesterol Level Of 244 A Cause For Concern?
Question: hi my sister in laws creatinine is 0.95. Blood sugar is ok. Cholesterol is high at 244. What does it denote?

Hello Dear. Your sister in laws creatinine level is normal. Normal range of creatinine is < 1.2 mg/dl. Creatinine level is seen to assess kidney functions. If the creatinine level is high then it suggests kidney damage.
Blood sugar level you said its normal. Fasting blood sugar normal range is 80-110 mg/dl, post prandial blood sugar (after 2 hrs of food) is 100-140 mg/dl. So since the blood sugar is normal, she doesnot have diabetes.
Coming to total cholesterol you mentioned it is 244. It is bit high. The normal level is below 200 mg/dl. Ideally entire lipid profile- including total cholesterol, Triglycerides, HDL, LDL, VLDL has to be checked to get an accurate picture. Right now your sister is just having high cholesterol. Ask her to meet a doctor with her reports. She may have to be started on cholesterol lowering drugs like Atorvastatin.
