Brief Answer:
Cholesterol and
Brain tumor not directly related
Detailed Answer:
Hello, Thanks for coming to HealthCareMagic.
My name is Dr. Vinay Bhardwaj, and I am a Neuro
Critical Care specialist. I do not understand what your doctor has told you about the linkage between cholesterol and Brain tumours.
There is research to show that just as some types of tumour are driven by hormones, so the most common type of brain tumour is dependent on low-density liposome (LDL) cholesterol to thrive.
So a
high cholesterol level would be good for a tumour, if you had one.
Now other than the headaches, fatigue, difficulty in concentration an
memory loss, could be the signal of a brain tumor. BUT IT IS MUCH MORE LIKELY that they are a sign of anxiety and lack of sleep.
The diagnosis of a brain tumor requires a detailed neurological examination from a neurospecialist and a brain scan, preferably an MRI. I see no reason that you should get a scan until you are neen by a
neurologist. So that should be your first step.
As for your cholesterol issues. you need to combine a healthy, low fat diet and exercise along with a medication such as
Atorvastatin or
Rosuvastatin to control those numbers. Your primary doctor can help you with this.
I hope this helps. Feel free to follow up.
Vinay
