Brief Answer:
Brochopneumonia can be trreated with antibiotics.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to the HCM.
Dear bronchopneumonia means some infection in lung bronchi ( tiny respiratory tree like branches). The infection could be bacterial ,fungal,or viral .
You may need some blood reports like complete blood count and blood culture too ,to see what extent of infection is and which type of infection is this.
It can be treated with 7 to 14 days course of antibiotics .
This is common and can even happen in small children, and treatable with good compliance of taking antibiotics course on time.
Pneumonia can spread from person to person ( communicable) and some time bad weather causes so.
With Xray report and some blood reports , treating physician can decide what antibiotic will be suitable. For example commonly bronchopneumonia can be caused by streptococcus ,staphylococcus or klebsiela bacterias.Suitable antibiotics could be amoxcillin plus clavunic acid ,clarthromycin or flucloxicillin ,depends after thoroughly examination ,type of patchiness on xray and blood reports.
Hopefully I answered your question.
You may ask further,if you have more questions to ask.
Regards,
Dr.Maheshwari
