Brief Answer:
Not normal for any age - consult a General Surgeon

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
To recapitulate: Male/36 - every once in a while - blood on toilet paper when you go to the bathroom - local Doctor says hemorrhoids are normal for your age -
(citing deyness they saw down there.) - could not get this....

To clear one important point: Hemorrhoids are not normal for any age at all.
Hence I would advise you the following:
- Ask your Doctor for a reference to a good General Surgeon. He shall do a clinical evaluation, do a per-rectal examination, ano-proctoscopy and ask for colonoscopy to get the correct diagnosis and then plan for a treatment according to the findings.

I hope this answer helps you, please feel free to ask for further relevant queries if you feel that there si a gap of communication.
