Is A Fever Of 39.3 A Cause For Concern?
Question: My Wife is in hospital last evening her temp went 39.3 c how dangerous is this.
She had a line inserted in her neck to a vein directly to her heart despite having expressed concerns about irritation my wife was having with this line nothing was done. Last evening the line was removed because of possible infection

Well your wife's temperature is very high. It indicates infection . Now where is the infection has to be evaluated.
Infection could have been in the line ( its called CVC ) or some where else in the body like in lungs , liver, urine or Abdomen . But going through the history infection might be there in abdomen as there was perforated Bowel.
I recommend certain tests to know what is the cause of high temperature. In that regard I advise the following tests:
Blood Culture sensitivity , Catheter tip culture sensitivity, Complete Hemogram, Serum Procalcitonin, Chest X ray, Ultrasound Abdomen.
She needs to be started on strong Antibiotics if not started by now . I would recommend Meropenem Antibiotic.
