Brief Answer:
Please get further evaluation.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing to us.

Firstly, I would say that a vaginal infection would need a proper clinical evaluation. Self medication can lead to inadequate treatment and perhaps drug resistance.

In the current scenario, the delay in the menstrual cycle is more likely to be due to the infection. Please see a specialist for a proper clinical evaluation and plan further management.

You may need a urinalysis, vaginal and cervical swabs and a pregnancy test if you are sexually active.

Hope your query has been clarified. Please feel free to contact for further information. I will be happy to help.

Dear Dr. XXXXXXX

Thanks for your advice.

I am not sexually active. The last encounter was on 01-Apr-2017. Soon after I got vaginal infection. Waited for it to cure on it own for a week. But when it wasnt going, I took Canesten V6. Then it was treated immediately.

I would like to understand, when can I expect my period. How long does it get delayed normally after the infection?

Brief Answer:
Delay depends on the situation, can vary from a few days to a skipped cycle

Detailed Answer:
Hello Ms. XXXXXXX

Thanks for writing back.

The delay in the menstrual cycle can vary from a few days to a skipped cycle. If you have become overdue by ten days I would ask you to go for further evaluation. Also, if you were ovulating at the time of your last intercourse that happened two weeks ago, you have a good chance of conception.

Hope this helps. Please get back if you need anything else.

regards,
Shanti.V.

Dear Dr. XXXXXXX

Thanks for educating me so much.

My last date of menstruation was 22-Mar-2017, 6:30pm. My monthly cycle varies between 23-26 days. Do you think I could be pregnant although I don't feel so?

Brief Answer:
Detailed below.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for writing again.

Ovulation occurs two weeks prior to the onset of the next period. Since you have 23-26 day cycles, your ovulation should fall between day 9 to day 12 after the first day of your cycle. Please correlate with the date of your intercourse to see if there is a chance of conception. Sperms can remain active upto 5 days after discharge while the ovum lives for 24 hours. This should help you calculate.

Hope this helps.

regards,
Shanti.V.
