Is A Circular Spot That Is Painful To Touch A Sign Of Herpes?

default
Posted on Fri, 10 Feb 2017
Question: The day before yesterday I shaved in the shower, and I felt a sting but I just figured I nicked myself, and didn't think anything of it. They usually heal pretty quickly. Yesterday I still felt the sting so I got a mirror and looked. I noticed a tiny circle patch of shiny skin that hurts to touch (similar to the inside of a lip. For example, when you bit your lip badly and the skin is shiny and painful). I slight freak out, and XXXXXXX it with a warm towel. Today it still stung so I looked again and the patch is more defined. The skin is more rough as if its healing (Same as the inside of a lip as it heals). It didn't hurt when I touched. There's no odor, no burning, just some irritation from my curiosity. So google, says its either herpes or folliculitis. I don't want to think its the worse thing and be herpes.

Welcome to healthcaremagic.com and myself Dr. Atishay Bukharia would be answering your questions..

At present it is in healing stage so nothing can be said about it (cause).

if there is recent history of sexual exposure in last 10 days then it might be a case of CHANCROID.

if it is recurrent in nature then it is going in favour of herpes infection.

at this stage I would have advised my parents to take Azithromycin tablet for 5 days MUPIROCIN OINTMENT to apply twice daily..

Hope it helps
