Is Tylenol Safe To Be Taken While On Phentermine?

default
Posted on Tue, 6 Dec 2016
Question: I am taking phenterine under doctor prescription for weight loss. I am suffering from a pretty bad cold/ flu and tried NyQuil because I haven't been able to sleep. I don't think the two work well together. I have not slept in three days and I feel jittery. I have laid off caffeine and just need some help sleeping. Can I use Tylenol pm?

Detailed Answer:
I read your question carefully and I understand your concern.

It is true that the two do not work well together. That is because pseudoephedrine contained in NyQuil is in a similar group to phentermine and the use of the two together decreases sedation, increase the effects of the sympathetic nervous system (which is activated in stress situations) therefore increasing heart rate and blood pressure. Alone at low dosages they are generally safe, but combined they may cause to such effects.
So I would avoid the use of the two together. If nasal congestion is a issue (pseudoephedrine in Nyquil is for that purpose) then a topical agent, used by nasal drops or spray may be used instead of a pill. As for Tylenol PM, yes you can use it, does not contain pseudoephedrine or similar ingredients.

I hope to have been of help.
