Is TKR Possible For Patients With Angular Deformity Of Knee With Osteoarthritis?

default
Posted on Mon, 21 Dec 2015
Question: My mother is 79. She has a history of fibular hemimelia, which is mild (she has about 2/3 of her fibula) but has a leg length discrepancy of about 1.5 inches on the right. She has never worn lifts in her shoe. Her knee is bothering her a lot these days and X-rays show bone on bone in the joint. The joint is also angled about 20 degrees laterally from horizontal. I am wondering if a joint replacement is possible and if there are specialists who deal with this type of deformity on a regular basis.
I am an emergency physician so feel free to use medical terms in your response.
