Question: SGOT level of my 1 year 4 months old son is 42.0 iu/l. What can be the reason and treatment.

Thanks for asking on this platform

I have gone through the history and details.
Most common cause of fever in this age is some viral infection.
The investigation for fever like hemoglobin,total counts and all other parameters are almost within normal limit.
The SGOT value is mildly elevated indicates that there is very mild derangement of liver.SGOT value when raised 4 times above the normal limit,considered to be significant.
In case of viral infection mildly raised SGOT is a very common finding.
I won't get overly worried if baby is active, playful and accepting orally well.
Monitor the temperature and give paracetamol to bringdown the temperature .If temperature persists for more than 96 hours,there is poor feeding,decreased urinary output or appearance of rashes consult your physician immediately.
