Is RNA Test Result After 10 Days Of Exposure Reliable?

default
Posted on Wed, 22 Jul 2015
Question: Hello doctor ,
I had unprotected vaginal intercourse with a girl on 6th june( my first and only unproteced exposure ! Been negative before that confirmed) . The girl has had multiple partners before and said she last had unprotected sex on 15th feb (i dont trust her) she took the clearview hiv 1/2 ab test on 9th XXXXXXX which came bsck negative.
I took the qualitative hiv-1 rna test on 16th XXXXXXX (10th day post exposure) it came back negative.
I took the clearview hiv1/2 antibody test today (24th day ) which came back negative. I know for conclusive results 3 months is the time frame
My questions are
1) how accurate are des tests with respect to my situation ? Can i rely on them with significant accuracy ?
2) i will take the duo test at the end of 1 month ? Should i delay it further or that test then will be conclusive enough ?

Brief Answer:
get Duo test after three months

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Welcome to healthcare magic.
The sensitivity of RNA test is pretty high and it has been negative so it is a big assurance. You can get Duo test after 3 months of the exposure.
You can rely these test for a surety that you are really free of HIV.
You should avoid unknown sexual partner because there are diseases other then HIV which are also pretty dangerous e.g. Hepatitis B and C, gonorroea, syphylis and Herpes etc.
I hope the advise will be helpful for you.
