Posted on Wed, 29 Nov 2017
Question: Hi Dr, sorry for asking same question if you had already answered similar incident. In short I had fingered massague about 1 to 1.5 minutes (NO other activities ) and had tiny cut (I bite my finger skin.. This cut was 4 to 6 hours early on that day) no bleeding during exposure. So took pcr rna real time on 21st day and result "target not Dected and again took on 28th day hiv1&2 and p24 CIMA method test, the result is non reactive.. My question is still do I need to take further tests or move on my life

Brief Answer:
Your HIV risk is negligible only.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
Thanks for posting your query.
First of all, there is every chance for that girl is free from HIV infection. Then there is no risk in your activity with regards to HIV infection.
As per CDC, XXXXXXX USA any sexual activity other than anal, vaginal and oral sex carries only a negligible risk for HIV transmission even in the presence of a micro abrasion in your finger while fingering activity.
Negative reports of HIV RNA PCR at 3 weeks and a 4th generation HIV test at 4 weeks after the risky activity clearly ruled out the possibility of HIV 1 infection beyond any doubt.
HIV 2 infection is rare except in few countries of west XXXXXXX
So in my opinion, you need no further test for HIV and you can resume your normal activities.

Brief Answer:
No further test for HIV is necessary for you.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.
Size of wound, time of exposure and presence or absence of bleeding are not matter much in your case.
As per CDC, XXXXXXX fingering has negligible risk for HIV transmission. (https://www.cdc.gov/hiv/risk/estimates/riskbehaviors.html)
Negative and nonreactive HIV test reports of yours clearly ruled out HIV 1 infection.
Due to extreme rarity, less transmissible, less virulent and negligible risk activity
do not warrant further HIV test for you.

Answered by Dr. Sankaranantham Murugan (1 hour later)
Brief Answer:
You are free from HIV 1 infection

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.
You just ignore the index value. It has nothing to do with your result. It is the botheration of lab people and the manufacturer of the kit. Ultimate result is non-reactive indicates that you are free from HIV 1 infection. PCR not able to detect any viral particle.
That's all.
