Brief Answer:
Better take alternative

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, thanks for your question on HCM.

Hydromet contains homatropine and hydrocodone. Both are outdated drugs for cough. There are good newer and more potent, less toxic drugs are available so, better to start them instead of hydromet or hydrodan.
I would like to know cause of your cough
So please let me know these things.
1. Are you smoker?
2. Have you ever done chest x ray and PFT (PULMONARY FUNCTION TEST)?
3. Since how long you are have cough?
4. Are you having other symptoms like expectoration, breathlessness, fever etc?

I will be happy to help you further.
Wish you good health.
Thanks.

No I am not a smoker never have been never will be.
Yes, I had venous reflux inefficancy which required a CT of the chest and abdmen
This cough and head cold seems to pretty much happen each year around this time when the weather here in Florida becomes cold and others especially kids are getting colds and coughs, I have an 11 year old.
I have had this cough for about a week now and we are just starting the cold and flu season here in Florida.
No I have no other real symptoms just a runny noise head cold and the cough which is worse at night. I do not have a real PCP how ever in the past which seems to be every year around this time I would go to a walk in medical clinic which has gotten very costly, I do not have the $200 plus dollars to go. In the past they would issue a rx for antibiotics and one of the two types of cough syrups I mentioned, Which worked extremely well especially at night when the cough is at its worse, after about two or so weeks my symptoms would clear up. I have tried numerous over the counter products, cough syrups alkaseltzer plus night time etc. Nothing seems to really help.

Brief Answer:
Get influenza vaccination(Flu shots) annually.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,

Thanks for your follow up question.

In my opinion you are having bronchitis due to change in season.
Viral infections are very common in early winter. And children are easily infected by these. Children spread infection in home, so other household contacts are also infected.
This is same happening in your case. And most common virus is influenza virus.

So at present take macrolide group of antibiotics. Antihistamine and anti inflammatory drugs with codeine containing cough syrup. Try these for 5 days. You will be alright.

And after this episode, get annual immunisation for influenza(Flu shots). This will be helpful in preventing future attacks.

Hope I have solved your query.

Ok sounds like a pretty standard plan as I have done in the past and has worked within two to three weeks as you have indicated. My problem, I am assuming these medications require prescriptions. How am I to get them with out spending a small fortune at the walk in clinic and they may not even agree with your diagnosis. Do you issue the prescription. I am assuming you would have to call it in since mailing will take time and I would like to be well or at least close to being well for the holidays. Please advise.
Thank you XXXXX

Brief Answer:
Medical ethics doesn't allow prescription without visual physical examination...

Detaailed Answer:
I can understand your situation and problem.
But prescription on this forum are not allowed as well as it is not authentic. Moreover laws of the land doesn't allow script or calling from a doctor online. So, I am sorry you have to consult doctor there and get prescription.
