Brief Answer:
It could be seborhea

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to Ask A Doctor service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

If you have it since childhood, I think it would be seborhea. Do you get scaling of skin?
Anyways since you have it since childhood, I wouldnot recommend strong medicines to cure it. Secondly it does not cause any serious harm, so it can left alone. Hairfall due to dandruff, usually reverses itself.

In first line I will recommend drinking cleaner water with lower TDS, washing your hair often and blow dry as it gets worse in humid conditions, can apply vaseline or baby diaper rash creams on worst affected areas of scalp. Don't apply shampoos that have many chemicals.

Other stronger medicines like selenium, anti-dandruf shampoos, salicylic acid preparations or coal tar preparations can be tried once or twice but can worsen the hairfall.

Hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Brief Answer:
You can get tested for deficiencies

Detailed Answer:
Hi again
I understand your concern regarding hair problem.

Common causes for hair fall are-
- Nutritional deficiency
- Dandruff
- Anaemia
- Thyroid problem
- Stress
- Chronic medical illness
- Drugs
- Heredity

We can find out the reason for the hair fall and treat it accordingly. You can get a complete blood count, thyroid profile, liver function test, vitamin B 12 levels done.

You can take biotin base tablets (tab xtraglow) for it. You should take it once a day for minimum 3 month. It will improve hair growth and quality and prevent hair fall. You can use coconut hair oil which is the base of many ayurvedic preparations and has medicinal property of itself..
You should take diet rich in protein like pulses.
Take sound sleep of 7-8 hours.

If the above doesnot work, then you can consult a doctor to rule out androgenic alopecia (in males).
