Question: .Im 230 pound 32 year old male, overweight, ldl cholesterol of 199...i took my heart rate right shortly after I woke up, i was still in bed and it was 49...now I'm awake and sitting down and it gets between 53 and 60 while awake and sitting...i walk on thetreadmill each day and get my rate into the 130s to 140s for 45 minutes....im a little worried about 49 being too low...i don't have any symptoms, I feel fine..but I am by no means a well conditioned athlete..is there a concern about bradychardia here? I read that it can go to 40 to 50 while sleeping, but that 49 was right after I woke up and was lying in bed...it was also 49 right before falling asleep in bed.

Brief Answer:
Get thyroid And Ecg done

Detailed Answer:
It's fine to have a heart rate of 49 considering you don't have any symptoms and being overweight, which may suggest low basal metabolic rate. If you are running daily then it is contributed, atleast to some extent, by increased vagal tone (athletes heart).
However, it's important that we rule out hypothyroidism in you, and also we confirm it to be sinus. So you should get thyroid profile done which includes T3, T4, TSH, and Ecg to confirm it being sinus and other abnormalities if any. May need further test if any abnormalities are found.
Also, for raised LDL, you should have healthy lifestyle like low oily and fatty diet, regular exercises. You should also get prescribed on statin like rosuvastatin 20 mg bedtime for 8 weeks atleast.
So overall, doesn't appear worrisome but it's better we get it evaluated.
Hope this helps you and get back if you have any doubts.

Brief Answer:
Yes, it's right

Detailed Answer:
Yes, it's right. That means your heart is able to increase the heart rate if necessary and low heart rate is likely due to physiological reasons, and possibility of heart disease goes down.
All the best.
