Question: I received my blood test results from a routine physical and they show low platelets (132), high ketone (1+ and slightly high bilirubin, total 1.3. My doctor is away for two weeks. Is this anything I should be overly concerned with? I am taking 5mg/day amlodipine besylate for high blood pressure

Brief Answer:
Amlodipine may be the cause of them.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to 'Ask A Doctor' service.
I read your query and here is my advice.

Amlodipine besylate rarely gives impaired liver function and low platelets count.
They are not common but can be found rarely in persons who take amlodipine.
The platelets are slightly low and bilirubin slightly elevated while 1+ ketones may show a low carbohydrates diet.

I think these tests are NOT so much altered that you can be concerned and seek medical attention immediately.

You can wait until you meet your doctor in two weeks.

Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
