I Need Help, I Don’t Know How To Advocate For

Posted on Sun, 29 Sep 2019
Question: I need help, I don’t know how to advocate for myself. I’m military so doctors rotate often. I need to see someone in a subspeciality but when I did, they didn’t take me very seriously. If I go to a civilian without authorization, it’s billed as uninsured. I’m desperate for help, I’m starting to feel worse and worse

Brief Answer:
Please write your symptoms and if you had any tests done.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor service.
I read your query and here is my advice.

You can state all symptoms to me in order that I can provide some advice for you. What are your current signs and symptoms, why are you feeling unwell and for how long and what tests you have recently done.
You should have done a total blood count, biochemical blood balance, abdominal ultrasound, Pap smear and vaginal smear, urine analysis and STD test .
Please write to me if you have recently done any of these tests.

I am waiting for your answer in order to help you better.

Okay so my symptoms are all over the place, I know that can be quite annoying but:

Rectal bleeding (bright red or darker in stool. Not everyday. Intermittently)
Abdominal cramping and bloating.
Easily full/ loss of appetite. Lost some weight in the past month. (About 12 lbs total)
Extremely fatigued and tired. Easily out of breath.
Joint pain (middle finger L hand, right hand ring finger and wrist)
Bone paid
Easy bruising
Swollen lymph nodes that come and go (not painful, not over 1 cm) location: behind ear and in groin
Hair loss on frontal part of scalp
Legs and hands fall asleep easily. Toes turn purple
Muscle soreness
Exhaustion
Irritable
Pale and bleeding gums.
Re-occurring angioedema in Lips.
Edema in feet and face (3 events, hasn’t happened in few months).

Also I’m not sure if this is a symptom or even worth mentioning but I get sore in my neck sometimes and the muscles feel very firm / hard.

No STDs. Had full workup from infectious disease. History of Epstein’s Barr Virus and Hand foot mouth.

CBC was fine. Low lymphocytes last 6-8 months. Not terribly low but just noticeably low. High monocyte % but absolute count was fine. White count (13-19k) every time I have active infection (strep or kidneys). Had lots of viral and bacterial infections in the past year. Weird stuff- elevated CK labs past 4 months (400-700 range) and then the very last one done two weeks ago was completely normal. CRP came back high past year x4 and last one came back normal. I also have intermittent fevers, and I have been taking pictures to document everything. I’m seeing rheumatology soon but they said sounds like Lupus but ANA negative in 2018. I am at a complete loss and I feel like I’m going crazy, I don’t want them to say fibermyalgia. My PCM said he didn’t think it was due to lab evidence every time I’m sick but I am just very nervous. Thyroid good. No allergy to foods. Family history- Dad with Dermatimyocitis & CML. Paternal Grandma CML.

Thank you so much for all your help. I really am trying to get ANY answers I can. I don’t see an option for uploading pictures but they do a lot of justice to my symptom list.

Brief Answer:
Some examinations blood tests are needed.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear and thank you for asking again.
I believe you may be suffering from haemorrhoids and the frequent bleeding may have left you with iron deficiency anemia and this two issues need to be resolved first.
The fatigue, easy bruising and hair fall may be related to iron deficiency anemia.
Please do a total blood count with formula and iron levels in blood.
Also get checked by a surgeon for hemorrhoids.
Also follow up with your rheumatologist following the tests for lupus and arthritis ANA antibodies.
Also a blood chemistry is needed.
You should check also vitamin D levels. Low vitamin D can lower your immunity and make you prone to recurrent infections

Let me know if I can assist you further.
Best regards.
