I Just Had Blood Work Done And My AST/ SGOT
Question: I just had blood work done and my AST/SGOT score was at 40 and the chart shows normal is 9-36. I also have an ALT/SGPT score of 56 when they are saying normal is 0-34. My b-type Natriuretic Peptide score is 134 and they are saying 0-125 is normal. I was nervous because on my bloodwork sheet it said elevation of patients with suspected acute congestive heart failure! I don't have any symptoms of heart failure but I am concerned about these results. All other results were normal.
also it says my mean corpuscular hemoglobin concent score is a little low at 31.4 when normal says 32-36 g/dL
I did change to a plant based diet 3 months ago, not sure if that has anything to do with any of my numbers. Everything else they did came back within normal range, and there were 75 other test results in my blood work.

Also have had Premature ventricular contractions for several years, on no medication for them. I went to the ER on Saturday night because they would not stop, which was unusual. Usually I just get them once in awhile or under stress. They said my blood pressure was very high (200/150) and gave me the hydrochlorothiazide to bring it down. It was normal and has been normal on that medication. I have an appointment to follow up with my dr.

I understand your concern and would explain that this elevation in ALT and AST levels is not concerning and it could be related to physical stress.
You should know that these enzymes usually increase during liver disease. But even if you take a painkiller or if you have straining physical activity their levels increase temporary.
Regarding high NT pro BNP levels , you should know that these levels are borderline and as you have never had symptoms of heart failure,there is no reason to worry about it!
You should know that NT pro BNP levels increase even with age, or in high output conditions ( thyroid gland dysfunction, liver cirrhosis, etc..
For this reason, I would recommend checking thyroid hormone levels too.
But, considering the premature ventricular contractions, I would also recommend performing a cardiac ultrasound or cardiac MRI, in order to examine your heart structure and function.
Considering your low MCV levels, it may indicate a low iron.
That is why I recommend checking iron plasma levels for possible deficiency and take supplements if necessary.
