I Have Vaginal Bleeding Lisinopril Could Have Been Responsible For This My Concern Is What Could Have Triggered This Event ?

Question: Hi, I have vaginal bleeding for almost a week. I've had some spotting for a couple of years. And, I have had a few bad episodes of bleeding last year. I think that the Lisinopril could have been responsible for this. After I stopped taking it, I no longer had the heavy bleeding episodes. Each episode only lasted minutes and stopped. This present one has not and I'm wondering if it will on its own. When the bleeding started, I would have some very mild cramps. I have some blood clotting but not as bad as the ones I had last year. They were the size of golf balls. Also, it seems that my lower back on the left side is bothering me when I notice the bleeding. Sometimes, I notice spotting after eating spicy food, ginger and turmeric. Outside of the cramping with the onset of the bad bleeding episodes, I do not have any other discomfort. I very, very rarely get stomach aches and don't get heartburn. I always thought that I had a cast iron stomach. With this episode of bleeding, I seem to push out blood when I go to stand up or bend over. I can feel it. I do have some blood clotting but nothing as big as in the past. Again, my concern is what could have triggered this event and the duration of it. I am 65 and have arthritis, hypertension and high cholesterol. I'm presently not taking any blood pressure medication. I am taking Pravastatin. I will be seeing a doctor about this.

Brief Answer:
Due to menorrhagia.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

You are having heavy and prolonged vaginal bleeding,a menstrual disorder called Menorrhagia.
There are many cause for having such heavy bleeding commonest being:-
-Female hormone imbalance,
-Uterine fibroids,
-Disorders of the uterine lining,
-Uterine,ovarian or cervical cancer,
-Hypothyroidism,
-Endometrial hyperplasia,

To rule out those you should go for blood profile, ultrasonography, thyroid profile, endometrial biopsy, hormonal profile or sometimes you required D&C.
You can try the following till you get your test reports done.
1) Take iron supplement.
2) Use Trapic-MF, ibuprofen and oral contraceptive pills to stop bleeding. You will need a written prescription from a doctor for these medicines.
Wishing you good health.

Brief Answer:
Malignancy needs to be ruled out.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
A heavy bleeding after menopause is worrisome and is indicative of cervical or endometrial malignancies. You can have trapic MF for temporary relief till you consult a gynecologist for detailed investigations, D&C and biopsy as per the need.
Hope my answer is helpful.
