What Causes Buzzing Noise In Ears While Having Severe Arthritis?

default
Posted on Tue, 14 Jun 2016
Question: I have a swishy sound in my head. The best way to describe the sound as if, fast race cars are going by. It happens when it is going to rain, and the weather is going to change. I have had Doctor's look in my ears the past, and I was told there is no infection or wax build up. I have had them washed out by the Doctor. It is such a maddening and sound, at random times, that continues at times for days. I have taken Zyrtec allergy over the counter and anivert. Is it possible it comes from the change in weather, barometric pressures and increase in humidity, or something more, and just a coincidence it happens when the weather changes? I do have severe arthritis too and diabetic II which is average around 200-240. Can that cause it ?

Brief Answer:
Possible otoarthrosis/otosclerosis

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have gone through your medical history carefully and understood your concern.

First please relax as stress/anxiety will make things worse instead of helping.

Next, the sound you are having in your ears especially when. it is humidity, could be related to otosclerosis (arthritis of tiny bones in your ears) taking into account your history of severe arthritis.

Discuss this again with your ENT specialist to check it out.

Do not worry unnecessarily. Take antiinflammatory meds and cetirizine when you start having this sound especially during humid weather.

Arthritis supplements if taken on regular basis can help reduce the symptoms.

Keep good control of diabetes. Monitor your blood pressure to rule out hypertension.

All the best.
